I settled on: Winchester Brass - New Federal 215M Primer Nosler 200 grain AccuBond Hodgdon H1000 - 80.5 grains Note that this is 1/2 grain over max in Hodgdon's No. 26 Manual, but shows no visible pressure signs. For your 300 WIn Mag, RL22 is the powder of choice foro 180 gr loads. The sweet spot will be 75.0-75.5 grs with a Federal GM215M primer. Load your bullet COL to fit the magazine. Ordered two box's one can "never" have enough bullets, 180 .308. If my rifle likes them I will test one or two on elk this fall. I think you'll like them Bill. I'm sure your old 300 will shoot them well. Remember, don't get discouraged if they don't perk when they are seated at mag length.

The 300 WSM is about 81 grains, the 308 NM/30-338 is about 86 and the Win Mag runs between 88-95 grains depending on which case type is selected in QL. It does look like a pretty well balanced cartridge. I like the ability to modify the 30-338/308NM to a 3.6 mag box on a Model 70 to give a little more seating latitude.Apr 30, 2021 · 4,700. I sighted it in and two days later I decided to use that scope for a baseball bat and buy a new one. After sighting in again my shoulder got a little sore and I started to flinch. I loaded some of those 110 gr loads down to around 3100 fps and did a "rough sight in".It doesnt hurt a thing to use mag primers in non-mag caibers. Just be aware that you MUST rework the load up from the beginning. Mag primers generally cause more pressure than standard primers with the same load.
