I hardly do any maintainance to my auger and the thing runs like a champ. Just make sure to run it dry in the spring, pull the plug, spray a bit of fogging oil, pull for a couple strokes of the piston, reinstall plug. In the fall, get a new plug and put in fresh gas. I have a strikemaster mag 2000, I have never changed my mixture and after 3 yrs. it runs great. 24:1. It runs better than most of my friends auger's as a matter of fact. One of my friends has a newer 3 hp. jiffy and he prefers to use mine when we go out, just keep the blades sharp.

If the carb has an F on it the diaphram goes on first. If it dosn't the gasket goes on first. The diaphram will get contaminated with bad gas and won't pump well. Flush the fuel system and set the carb screws 1 turn out. When gas sits it loose it combustibility and the motor won't start so it's important to have fresh fuel.
