If you want to abuse skill cards and all that jazz on Izanagi, Magatsu-Izanagi always wins because of its inherent Null Light/Dark resistances. The intent is to make you fuse often to keep up, and since your Izanagi is 20 levels lower than the closest boss you might as well ditch him.
