Thats how they work, sometimes they join sometimes they dont. It doesnt take too long though, just keep trying. Recruiting southern hive workers and southern hive princes is possible. It is purely RNG to recruit them using the recruiting prisoner. I think they need to have resistance to gas and/or dustorms. Hive Prince - basically a frail greenlander since they complelty share body parts hit chances with them.
