I'm just seeing this thread for the first time, but I was going to comment that it could either be a failure in the VTM-4 system OR a different failure that has disabled the VTM-4 system causing the light to illuminate. In your case, it was obviously the latter.

FYI, VTM-4 light was there instantly upon each start; but CEL would go out right after start, and then come back on in about 1/2 minute. Codes read at dealer were 22 & 2647; both for "VTEC Oil Pressure Switch".
