new guy, hello guys i just picked up very high mileage 07 rancher 420 manual shift 4x4 for 50 bucks from a local dairy farm. looks like hell but run great, except, where is the reason it was 50 bucks, not matter what gear it is it when you start to give it some throttle it pops out of gear, i should add it doesn't really shift well to begin with. rock it back and forth and running the shifter ...

Just bought a recoil start to add to a 2008 Honda Rancher 420 ES 4x4 after getting left with a broken starter in the woods. When she first starts out with a cold engine, shifing from 1st to 2nd, you have to hit the shift button 3 or 4 times before it will shift into 2nd. After running the bike for awhile and the engine is really warmed up, it will shift alot better.
