Don't go hogwild on the spells because you will OoM yourself. Build mana. If the item gives mana, you can build it on Ryze. Might not be the best, but it wont be useless. Tear is your friend. Start mana crystal and potion, back at 400 gold to buy your tear. Double Tear is a situationally useful strategy that I shamelessly refuse to abandon.
