Playthrough like I was going for there is no spoon, but don't worry about missing. Don't remove anything, just go. No reworking with new tech, even the original burners are still there. Go back through and hand optimize things, but using only things in nearby sections (I.E. if surrounding area has red belts , only use red belts.)

Find a good map. My total resource consumptions: 600k iron, 400k copper, 280k coal. Decent patches within start area will make your life much easier. There are also plenty of map setting suggestions to avoid bitters though challenge is fun :) The only research I did beyond rocket tree is circuit network.
