Never Dry fire a Kel-Tec pf9 It is hammer fired driving the firing pin forward there is a slot on the firing pin where the extractor screw sets what dry firing does is wear the tip of this screw and damages firing pin. it is good ideal to have extra screws on hand also extra firing pin and spring.1. Always pull the trigger first (after removing slide, and with cloth protecting the frame) to release the half-cocked spring tension. (of course on yours, this is already released) 2. disconnect the hammer spring at bottom b4 removing frame pins. 3. install frame pins B4 reconnecting hammer spring at bottom. 4.Trim away the thin piece on one side. This will face the non-spring end of the block. Put the hammer block and spring together as they would be in the grip. Slide the piece with the holes over the block and one coil of the spring to hold them together.
