Re: "No path" train automation in tutorial. by Serenity » Sun Aug 23, 2020 10:33 pm. You really need to show your signals for these kinds of problems. For one train to go both ways on one track you need signals on both sides exactly opposite each other. Signals tell the train in which direction it can go.

Factorio rail tutorial. Things To Know About Factorio rail tutorial.

Train stops can be used to pass circuit signals to trains, read train contents, or uniquely identify trains with an ID number. Additionally, the amount of trains going to the train stop can be read by the circuit network. When reading the content of a stopped train, fluid amounts are rounded down to the nearest integer, except when the fluid ...Dispatcher is a 1x1 building with two connection points: input and output. Replace a rail signal with a chain signal if the space after the signal is shorter than your longest train. For that reason, use chain signals entering intersections and between two intersections that is really close.I don't think deadlocks are a main problem in this design specifically - I don't see how they'd happen outside of extremely unlikely circumstances. Like two trains going through intersection from opposite directions both get rerouted to left turns at exact same time, or approach it for left turn at exact same moment.. The tutorial is pretty naughty because it doesn't have you use chain signals in places you really should. Ignore it and automate these rules in your head.A requester station has a train wait at the station itself, setting off to a provider station once the chest buffer in the requester station is getting dangerously low. There is exactly one train to each requester station, so no stackers are needed. Because these stations are then sometimes empty, their throughput can be lower than the factory ...

Conclusion. Factorio has been compared to programming many times, and this is just another part of the analogy. Almost everything you can do with parametrised blueprints can be done through circuit network logic, so it looks almost redundant. In programming, the parallel is the compile time function execution versus runtime function execution.

A single signal acts as a no-entry sign for trains coming the other way, so signals on the single track section need to be paired directly opposite each other. Then, treat the full stretch of single track like an intersection, chain signal on entry and rail signal on exit, meaning only one train can be there at a time and preventing two trains ...jdelmont209. • 3 yr. ago. Train signals are super easy it makes them hard. Basically there's three rules: Chain signal at the beginning of an intersection. Stop signal at the exit of an intersection. Even with proper rail signal and chain-rail signal use, too many trains on a route will lead to deadlock. Liberal use of waiting-bays can prevent this issue. This means that a well-designed train stations are troublesome to figure out. You will have to study train signals before you can design a good rail network.
